Dr Martin Estefan

Martin Estefan was born in Mendoza, Argentina. He graduated from the Medical School Training in 2012 and decided to move to Buenos Aires, Argentina where he did 5 years of residency in Orthopedics and Traumatology in the prestigious Italian Hospital of Buenos Aires, Argentina (2013-2018). During his residency, he demonstrated a great interest in spinal surgery, and therefore, he applied as a spinal fellow at the same institution (2018-2020) under the mentorship of Dr Carlos Sola and Dr Marcelo Gruenberg. He was exposed to a wide spectrum of spinal pathologies including degenerative conditions, adult deformities, trauma, infection, tumours and minimally invasive procedures.

His interest in training as a spinal surgeon in the UK started in 2018 when he visited the spinal Unit at Queen's Medical Centre for 2 months and had the opportunity to be involved in complex pediatric and adult deformity cases.

The greatest areas of interest of Dr Estefan are pediatric and adult deformity as well as minimally invasive procedures. Moreover, Dr Estefan has demonstrated a great interest in the research field, he has published peer-reviewed articles related to spine surgery in national and international journals. He has attended multiple national and international scientific meetings and he is an active member of AO Spine Foundation and the Association of Spine Surgeons of Argentina.

Dr Estefan joined the spinal fellowship programme at the Centre for Spinal Studies and Surgery at Queen’s Medical Centre, Nottingham University Hospitals in 2020 to enhance his training in complex pediatric and adult deformity as well as the entire spinal disorders.
