The Centre for Spinal Studies and Surgery (CSSS) runs an active educational program. Each Wednesday evening is dedicated to education, the meeting taking place in the spinal unit seminar room (West Block D-Floor of Queen's Medical Centre) from 17:30-18:30. The meeting is usually concluded with a social visit to one of Nottingham's numerous pubs. Guests are welcome. A case discussion session is held for the fellows and junior doctors on Friday afternoons. Visitors to the unit are welcome to attend.

The CSSS is in the process of developing a series of dedicated educational courses covering the entire field of spinal surgery. The introductory courses will cover basic spinal techniques for trainees with an interest in spinal surgery and include cadaver workshops. The advanced and masters courses will cover advanced reconstructive and microsurgical techniques with case discussions, live surgery and cadaver workshops.
